(Bonus Item) A Gold Lighter Gifted by Joan to MGM Writer and Producer Leon Gordon: Pictured is a gold lighter given by Joan to Leon Gordon. Mr. Gordon was an actor, writer and producer for many years. Among his many writing achievements, he wrote the screenplay of Joan's 1937 film "The Last of Mrs. Cheney," and was a contributing writer of Joan's 1941 film "When Ladies Meet." Additionally, Mr. Gordon was an associate producer of Joan's 1943 film "Above Suspicion." Mr. Gordon later gifted the lighter to his daughter. However, not wanting to encourage her to smoke, he had the lighter refashioned as a watch and lipstick holder (as seen in the photos). Pictured in the last photo of the lighter is also a picture of Mr. Gordon with Clark Gable. A special thanks to Mr. Gordon's daughter for allowing the lighter to be photographed and documented on this website.
